Setting Up a Snake Enclosure

Setting Up a Snake Enclosure

Set up an enclosure for your snake before you bring it home. Large aquariums work well but use a tank large enough for your snake’s adult size. Each species of snake has different living requirements. Research your snake thoroughly so you supply the correct substrate for the bottom of the tank, plants, rocks and other things to climb on and hide under. Ensure you don’t fill the tank with so many things that it becomes difficult to move around. You will need to consider humidity and heat too. Moisture can be introduced as an aspect of heating the tank. You will need to keep a constant temperature since snakes are cold-blooded. You will need daytime heat lamps and also lamps that give off heat but not light for the night hours. Check that there are no hot spots or hot surfaces that can burn your pet.
