Bathing Your Cat

Your cat is pretty good at grooming herself but there are times when she might get into something sticky or stinky and you need to clean her. Try to spot clean the dirty area with a wet washcloth if you can. Otherwise you might need to give her a bath. Consider trimming your cat’s nails before brushing to reduce damage done if your cat lashes out at you. Gather all your materials together in one place. Keep one hand on your cat so she doesn’t try to run away. Wet your cat with lukewarm water. Use a small basin rather than the sink sprayer, which could frighten her. Lather her up with cat-safe shampoo and rinse thoroughly, again with lukewarm water. Towel dry your cat and brush her while taking care not to catch in tangles. Keep her warm until she is completely dry. Make a visit to your Indianapolis, IN vet to learn more.
