Your Guinea Pig’s Water Bottle

Your Guinea Pig’s Water Bottle

Your guinea pig needs access to fresh, clean water at all times. A water bottle works better than a bowl that can be tipped over or contaminated easily with bedding and droppings. Choose a bottle that is large enough to meet your piggy’s water needs. It should have a stainless steel sipper tube at the end with a ball bearing to keep the water from leaking out. Hang the bottle on the side of the cage away from where your pig normally urinates. Hang it low enough that your guinea pig can reach it easily but high enough that it doesn’t touch the bedding. Check the tube regularly to see that there are no stray pieces of bedding there to cause leaking. Change the water at least once daily and scrub the bottle well with a bottlebrush during your weekly cage cleaning. Visit local registered animal hospital Indianapolis IN, for more information.
