Keeping Your Pet Bird Safe While Outside the Cage

Keeping Your Pet Bird Safe While Outside the Cage

Your bird spends most of his life inside his cage. However, he needs time outside the cage daily for exercise and socialization. Before letting him out, secure the room. Check windows and doors so that your bird cannot escape to the outdoors. Turn off any fans. Make sure there are no items that can fall on your bird. Remove any toxic plants that your bird might nibble on. Provide your bird with things to land on and play with. Give him lots of room to fly. Always supervise your bird at all times when he is out of the cage. Protect him from children or other pets that might swipe at him or grab him. Take the time while your bird is outside the cage to work on training and to get to know your bird better. You can also clean your bird’s cage during this time too. Call your Riverside County, CA veterinarian to know more. Visit them for additional information and advice.
