Why Do Cats Have Ear Hair?

There are many adorable features of our feline friends. They have cute little paws and expressive tails, but they also have amazing ear hair! Why do cats have ear hair anyway?

There are a few guesses as to why cats have ear hair. First, it’s a good way to keep the inner ear healthy. It’s a bit like our earwax. A cat with lots of ear hair can still hear, but all that hair can trap dirt and bacteria before it ends up inside the inner ear.

Cats can’t talk, which means they communicate in other ways. They may use their tail, but they also use their ears. Some people believe that all that long hair allows cats to exaggerate what they’re trying to say with their ears.
