Why Cats Like Boxes

If you haven’t watched any cute videos of cats climbing in boxes on the internet, you should drop everything you’re doing and go check them out! There’s no doubt that this is a funny behavior, but why do cats like boxes so much in the first place?

Cats like boxes because they provide them with a sense of security. The smaller the box, the more security it has to offer. In the wild, this would be important to a cat. Not only do they prey on small animals, they are also prey for bigger animals. Finding a safe place to hide means being able to relax enough to sleep.

Not only do house cats engage in this behavior, wild cats, like tigers and lions, do too! To learn more about this curious behavior, click here, or call and speak to your veterinarian Ashburn, VA.
