Designer Dogs

Designer dogs are bred using different breeds of dogs. They are different from mutts since the parentage of mutts are unknown or unplanned. Designer dogs are bred using carefully chosen parents from two purebred dogs. This combination has fairly consistent results, providing a somewhat consistent look and temperament. However, these results are never guaranteed. If you are considering adopting a designer dog, be sure you like the characteristics of both contributing parent breeds since the resulting puppies could favor one over the other. And your dog may actually present the worst characteristics of the two combined breeds. There is little consistency if you breed one designer dog with another so these dogs cannot be registered as an official breed with the dog registry organizations, regardless of the high price for these puppies. Check out both contributing parents and carefully pick a puppy that fits in your household. For more information, contact your Georgetown, IN veterinarian.
