Keep Your Bird Hydrated and Cool

Did you know birds can get overheated and suffer from heatstroke if they don’t have access to fresh water or cooler temperatures? Talk with your vet and he can tell you that birds are very sensitive to the temperatures around them. If your bird is generally kept outside on a porch or in a sunroom, make sure you bring him indoors and to a cooler location during the hot summer months. Be sure his cage is not directly in front of a fan or under a A/C vent as too much of a draft may also make him sick. Always keep water refreshed and cool. If your bird seems hot or uncomfortable, gently spray him with a light water mister to help him cool off. If your bird still appears to be uncomfortable or overheated, click here, or call your vet Scottsdale, AZ to find out what else you can do.
