How to Keep Your Hamster Clean

Hamsters don’t like baths. In the wild, they’re den animals, so large amounts of water can be very scary. It could mean their home is getting flooded! If your hamster gets dirty, you really shouldn’t bathe him. Instead, you should keep him clean in the first place.

The best way to keep your pet clean is to keep the cage clean. If soiled bedding is allowed to build up in the cage, your pet is more likely to end up dirty and smelly. Plan to clean potty spots every day or two and completely clean the cage at least once a week.

You can also give your hamster frequent spot baths if you notice he gets dirty frequently. A wet washrag will take care of most messes.
