We aren’t as close to our neighbors as we used to be. That means we’re not as close to their pets either. However, there are some benefits associated with befriending your neighbor’s dog.

There’s nothing worse than coming home and getting barked at when it isn’t even your dog! If you befriend the neighbor’s dog, he’ll consider you a friend, and he’ll be excited to see you. You will be able to reduce his barking, and you may be able to prevent aggressive behaviors. After all, you aren’t a stranger!

If you befriend the neighbor’s dog, you show your neighbor that you care about their animal. That’s important if a problem arises. It’s easier to talk about potty spots in your yard or incessant barking if they think you like their pet.
